Workshops for Math Modules
Data science promotes curiosity, encourages deep thinking, and provides context. Our workshops will:
- demonstrate how to incorporate data science into math content already being taught in grades 5 through Algebra 2
- allow teachers to explore ways to add data science into their own curriculum, including in-person feedback from faculty and peers
- cover Missouri Learning Standards, helping to combine required material with real-world context and data literacy skills
Workshops will be held in March and April and will be located in Kirksville, Mo., Kansas City, Mo., and two in St. Louis, Mo. Register for any of the four, free regional workshops via the registration link below.
March 9, 2023: St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Community College, Corporate College
March 23, 2023: Kirksville, MO – Truman State University
April 13, 2023: Kansas City, MO – Metropolitan Community College, Penn Valley
April 20, 2023: St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Community College, Forest Park
Workshops will occur from 4-6 p.m. at each location. University faculty will introduce the developed modules, help you explore the material, and ask questions about how to successfully incorporate the concepts into topics you are already teaching. In addition, there will be data science related materials for attendees and their classrooms, and refreshments to fuel your body and brain for the workshop.
